Bob had a good life. He had a wife and child he loved and cared for, as well as many friends in the town he grew up with. But one day the king asked for all his money, before riding into town. Bob hid with his family as he heard shouts and fire outside. When he finally emerged, he found that almost all his friends were dead, and the king was responsible. In anger, he found the guards who did all this to get revenge, but the guard told him none of them could control themselves. He was convinced by the guard's tears, and went to tell everyone, but suddenly found himself passed out. The next time he was concious, he was in a room with a girl and a large drippy man. The girl touched him and he felt his body change, weakness flooding in. He was a jack-in-the-box.

Soon he found himself out on the streets again. He found his family, but they didn't recognise him at all. He saw others getting apprehended for acting human, and began to realise they didn't remember him. And so, he stayed with them as a toy watching his child grow up. One day his wife got a new boyfriend. He hated him, but there was nothing he could do. After all, he was just a toy.

But one day he finally suddenly turned back into a human again. He was delighted. His wife and child both remembered him again. But after his wife hugged him, she only turned around to tell him she didn't love him anymore after so much time had passed. She wanted to go away with her new boyfriend. He hated it, but there was nothing he could do. He could visit them sometimes at least.

Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly found himself stopping. He turned around back towards his wife and began walking. He couldn't control himself at all. He found himself picking up a kitchen knife, and desperately tried to stop himself, but soon he found himself stabbing his wife and, now almost mature, child. And he couldn't even stop to mourn them, as he turned to her boyfriend and to the people outside. As his body moved on it's own, he noticed something in the distance blocking the island off. Was he stuck here? Was he going to die here? As it turned out, the birdcage in the distance wasn't important after all. Because he had just been shot in the heart by a Navy soldier. He collapsed, finally knowing peace.

I feel pretty bad for all the townsfolk who've been going through all this.
